2014 Iron Moto Challenge Master Dealer Builder: Johnny Scheff and Motoworks Chicago

Motoworks Chicago’s “Calle Maton” build, a fire-breathing tribute to the drama and spirit of individualism inherent in motorcycling, has been announced as the winner of the Triumph Motorcycles X British Customs Iron Moto Challenge. The scores are in and the votes have been tallied; your voices have been heard! In addition to earning high marks from judges Brian Klock, Christy Lee, Julian Heppekausen and Kevin Dunworth, the Motoworks build has been crowned the Master Builder of the Iron Moto Challenge thanks to the participation of thousands of fans on social media.

The winning build, dubbed “Calle Maton,” began as a bone-stock Triumph Speedmaster before Johnny Scheff and the rest of the Motoworks Chicago team stripped it down and got to work installing the long list of British Customs components they had selected for their build. The bike is a nod to a time when motorcyclists had a well-deserved reputation for lawlessness; even the name translates to “Street Thug.” With its vintage-inspired details, strikingly intricate custom paint, and long list of British Customs upgrades, “Calle Maton” captures the imagination in every gout of flame fired from its BC cocktail-shaker exhaust. “It was a true honor to compete in the Iron Moto Challenge, we couldn’t be happier with how things turned out,” said Motoworks Chicago founder Johnny Scheff. “Our goal was to show people how much creativity can go into a bike in a relatively short period of time when you’re working with British Customs bolt-on parts. We wanted to show people that you don’t have to be a pro builder to customize your bike, you just need the determination to do it yourself or head to your local Triumph shop to get started. The response has been great, and now our work is even featured on the Triumph Motorcycles website’s summer campaign along with the other Iron Moto Challenge contestants.”

“We have a lot of respect for Johnny Scheff and the entire Motoworks team” said British Customs President, Jason Panther. “They exemplify what it means to be unique and share our vision of making customization accessible to all Triumph enthusiasts. Our mission here at British Customs is to foster a vibrant Triumph community and inspire people to go out and customize their machines. All of these builders captured our philosophy of innovation and creativity. We are fortunate to have had amazing partners that were instrumental in making all of this happen, and we want to extend a special thanks to our judges, Triumph Motorcycles, ICON 1000 and RAEN.”
